Message from the Director
Avanzare Vocal Ensemble is a community choir based in the Montgomery County/Conroe Area, founded in 2019. Our mission is to provide a platform for talented singers to come together and perform lesser-known or underrepresented choral works. Our group comprises an average of 12-18 people who are committed to producing quality interpretations through scholarly research and exceptional musicianship.
Our repertoire is diverse and includes programmatic concerts that cater to a wide range of musical interests. For instance, we have performed a Vespers for the 5th Sunday in Easter that featured the compositions of Renaissance composers such as Tomas Luis de Victoria and chants appropriate to that day from the Catholic Church. Additionally, our first program titled "Genesis" featured Sacred Music from around the western world, including works such as "Hark I Hear the Harps Eternal" arranged by Alice Harper, "Tavetti Laul 104" by Cyrillus Kreek, "Pilgrim's Hymn" by Stephen Paulus, and "Great Are You O God" by Knut Nystedt.
We have also presented a program called "Songs of Spring and Summer," which included works such as "Im Wald" by Fanny Hansel, "Summertime" by Gershwin, "I'll Be On My Way" by Kirchner, and "Unclouded Day" by Kirchner. We are reprising an older program called "Unsung," which showcases the choral works of Hensel, Clara Schumann, and Luise Adolphe LeBeau. In this reprisal, we will juxtapose some of their works against some of their more well-known male contemporaries and associates, such as Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, and Josef Rhineberger.
At Avanzare Vocal Ensemble, we strive to provide a platform for singers to showcase their talent while also educating our audiences about diverse choral works. Our dedication to musical excellence is evident in every performance we deliver, and we hope to continue providing musical enrichment to our community for many years to come.
